Who’s that hiding in our coral nursery on #WildlifeWednesday?

This scrawled cowfish, with its hexagonal armor and tiny “cow horns” above its eyes, is built for survival.

Ever spotted one while diving?

Coral Outplanting 101

How do you restore a reef? One coral at a time.

Here’s how:
1️⃣ Harvest from the Nursery – We collect nursery-grown corals ready for outplanting.

2️⃣ Prep the Reef – Algae and debris are cleared to create a stable site.

3️⃣ Secure the Coral – Marine-safe epoxy locks them in place.

4️⃣ A Growing Reef – The corals settle in and begin restoring the ecosystem.

My, what big polyps you have!

Great star coral (Montastraea cavernosa) stands out on the reef thanks to its oversized polyps, each as big as the tip of your thumb! These large polyps help the coral capture more food and thrive in deeper waters where light is limited.

Have you ever seen polyps this massive?
